"I am a 70 year old male who recently had a second total knee replacement on my right knee performed by Dr. Charles Wilson. In 1967 due to a college football injury, I underwent the first of five surgeries on my right knee. In the mid 1980’s while living in Arkansas, I had a ligament reconstruction (the Andrews procedure). Then in the early 1990’s another ligament reconstruction was performed. In December 2002, a total knee replacement was required. With the first two surgeries, I had virtually no physical therapy and had considerable difficulty with my recovery. With the total knee replacement in 2002, there was little or no physical therapy in the hospital, no in-home physical therapy, and delayed out-patient therapy. A second procedure was required to manipulate the knee because of the build-up of scar tissue. My recovery was long and difficult.
In 2012, I began to experience difficulty with my knee and saw Dr. Todd Engerson, our orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Engerson referred me to Dr. Charles Wilson whose specialty is replacement of previous total knee replacements. I dreaded this necessity because of the difficult and lengthy recoveries I had experienced with all four of my previous knee surgeries. This surgery has been a totally different and positive experience. Due to the four previous surgeries on my knee, Dr. Wilson had to remove three inches of bone. He performed the surgery on October 22. I returned home to the Mississippi Gulf Coast on the 26th, and began in home physical therapy on the 29th. By the end of the second week, I could bend my knee to 90 degrees and straighten it at almost. I began out-patient physical therapy November 22, and as of November 28th, I could bend my knee to 105 degress and straighten my knee. I am experiencing virtually no pain and have minimal swelling. It is incredible the ease with which I am recovering from this radical surgery and the progress I am making in such a short time. I highly recommend Dr. Wilson and would be happy to speak with anyone considering this surgery. Dr. Wilson is an excellent doctor and caring person." -- Virgil P.
"My experience was great! The technician who did my X-ray was very kind towards me. The nurse who took my information in the examining room was good too. I always enjoy my visits with Dr. Wilson! He is a good thorough doctor and he is very competent and compassionate. I appreciate him so much." -- Carla Y.
"My experience was great. I did not have to go through hours of waiting it was quick. I as a guy do not like going to the doctor let alone someone who's going to be working with my bones, but I was happy to go and get help from the caring doctors at The Orthopaedic Group. It was a breeze when I thought it was going to consume my time. My experience was great and if I every broke another bone I wouldn't rather go anywhere else but The Orthopaedic Group." -- Michael D.
