As a leading sports medicine specialist, Dr. Stephen Cope has been an invaluable member of The Orthopaedic Group, P.C. team. On behalf of the countless patients he has helped over the years, we’d like to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for his dedicated service.
Over the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Cope has amassed an impressive list of accomplishments. He joined The Orthopaedic Group in 1990 and is well-known for his commitment to patient care and excellence. Not only is he a board-certified member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Cope is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, which is a testament to his exceptional skill and dedication.
Dr. Cope is most well-known for his expertise in sports-related injuries and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. His specialty training in cartilage restoration procedures of the knee, including autologous chondrocyte implantation, has helped numerous patients overcome debilitating injuries.
Throughout his time at our practice, Dr. Cope has been a member of most area hospital staff, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has also served as the team physician for the University of Mobile, the head of the doctors’ committee for the Senior Bowl, and was president of our practice for more than 10 years.
As Dr. Cope announces his retirement, we could not be more grateful for the positive impact he has made on our team and our patients. We extend our heartfelt thanks to him for his commitment to providing compassionate, quality care to those in need.
