At The Orthopaedic Group, P.C., we’re celebrating several milestone anniversaries for our physicians. This week, we’re celebrating Dr. J. Nicholas Rachel, a fellowship-trained surgeon in our Hand and Elbow Center of Excellence. He joined our practice 10 years ago and has made an impact on not only patient outcomes, but through his unending support of nonprofits in our community.
Dr. Rachel completed his undergraduate degree at the University of South Alabama before receiving his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile. Following his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Rachel went on to receive advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery.
As a board-certified pediatric and adult hand and upper extremity surgeon, Dr. Rachel’s practice focuses on the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of hand, wrist, and elbow injuries and conditions.
Dr. Rachel strives to create a positive experience for each patient. He says, “Being able to restore full use of a patient’s upper extremity so that they can lead an active lifestyle is the reason I became a surgeon.”
Dr. Rachel is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He’s also a major supporter of several nonprofit organizations, including United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile, the Alzheimer’s Association, and Camp SMILE, a residential summer camp for children and adults with special needs. When he’s not seeing patients, he enjoys golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family.
