About

Dr. Timothy L. Frerichs graduated from the University of South Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences and received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of South Alabama, Orthopaedic Surgery Department and then went on to complete two fellowships.

To pursue his interest in Sports Medicine and shoulder injuries, Dr. Frerichs was accepted to subspecialty training at one of the country’s premier fellowships. He spent one year at the Andrews Institute studying sports medicine and shoulder treatment, while training with Dr. James Andrews. The fellowship provided intensive exposure to team coverage, including the Washington Commanders football team, Pensacola Blue Wahoos AA baseball, Auburn University football, and other Auburn University athletics.

Dr. Frerichs went on to complete a second fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Desert Orthopaedic Center under Dr. Troy Watson and Dr. Abdi Raissi in Las Vegas. Under this fellowship, he provided orthopaedic consultant care for many Las Vegas shows, including Cirque du Soleil, Le Reve, and sporting events including UFC, UNLV Rebels, and the Las Vegas Gladiator arena football team.

Dr. Frerichs specializes in treating conditions of the foot and ankle, shoulder, knee, and other sports-related injuries. He also specializes in arthroscopy of the ankle, knee, and shoulder. 

He is involved in the training of both SBH Family Practice Residents and ACOM medical students and also participates in the athletic care of Orange Beach High School, Gulf Shores High School, and South Baldwin Christian Academy.

Dr. Frerichs was born in Pensacola but now calls Orange Beach home. He became interested in orthopaedics after having spine surgery at age 19. Dr. Frerichs and his wife, Cori, are raising three children, Kiele, Mya, and Chase. He enjoys weightlifting, SEC football, fishing, and spending quality time with his wife and children. He is involved in church and various sporting activities.

Dr. Frerichs is seeing patients at our Foley, Orange Beach and Fairhope locations.
