December 2015 – Dr. Clinton Howard, IV worked with this sweet young lady to conservatively treat a pars fracture in her spine. The pars interarticularis is a portion of the lumbar spine and joins together the upper and lower joints. Emily was suffering from spondylolysis (spon-dee-low-lye-sis) which is a common cause of low back pain in adolescent athletes. Scoliosis Surgery Changes Lives of Ecuadorian Teens and Spine Specialists

June 2015 – Dr. James West and Dr. Clint Howard recently performed spine surgery on two 14-year-olds from Ecuador that changed the girls’ lives.

The teenagers, Victoria de Jesus Vera and Juleisy Delgado, initially came in with severe scoliosis to a surgical center operated by Bayside Medical Missions in Portoviejo, Ecuador. However, the procedures needed to correct the curvatures of their spines were too complicated to be done at the clinic.

Drs. West and Howard donated their time and services, as did Providence Hospital, where the surgeries were performed.

ACL reconstruction saves local softball star’s career

After suffering what could have been a career-ending knee injury, local softball star, Burgandie Rabe, regained movement and returned to the softball diamond following an anatomic ACL procedure. Otherwise known as an ACL or Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction, this innovative procedure reestablishes the ligament in a more anatomical way than other treatment options.
