Talking pediatric scoliosis with Dr. Handwerger and the The Orthopedic Group

FOX10 News recently stopped by our office to chat with our pediatric specialist, Dr. Adam Handwerger, about the conditions he treats and the most common signs of scoliosis in children.

After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, Dr. Handwerger came to the University of South Alabama College of Medicine to complete medical school and his residency. He returned to Georgia to complete his pediatric fellowship at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. He’s now been practicing at The Orthopaedic Group, P.C. for 11 years.

Dr. Handwerger described his specialties as, “treating patients from the day of birth up to 18 or 19 years old.” The conditions he treats most often include fractures, broken bones, scoliosis, and cerebral palsy.

One condition of particular importance to parents is scoliosis, and Dr. Handwerger described some signs parents can keep in mind about this condition.

Check out the video below to learn what signs he says parents should look out for – and what next steps you should take.
