- Wash Your Feet Daily – Keep your feet clean by washing them daily in warm soapy water. Dry feet thoroughly to improve your foot health, especially between the toes where fungal infections can develop.
- Wear Properly Fitted Shoes – Our feet barely receive the attention that they deserve. Despite the fact that they carry us around every day, don’t squeeze into a shoe that’s too small. Shoes that are too tight can cause long-term foot problems. Purchase shoes late in the day when your feet tend to be at their largest.
- Skip the flip-flops and flats – These types of shoes don’t provide enough arch support for your overall foot health. You should also rotate your shoes so you’re not wearing the same pair every day. Give your shoes time to air out.
- Trim Toenails Regularly – Trim toenails using proper nail clippers. Cut straight across, never at an angle or in the corners.
- Examine your feet for problems – Perform a foot self-exam once a week when you take a bath or shower As you’re drying off your feet, take a good look on the soles for any scaling and between your toes for peeling areas.
